Documentary Film Project on
Libyan Traditional Dress

A comprehensive scientific and professional documentation of Libyan traditional dress manufacturing — the Farmla, Nazla, and Barda’a — as an element of intangible cultural heritage under the UNESCO 2003 Convention

About the Project

This project aims to produce a comprehensive scientific and professional documentary film documenting Libyan traditional dress manufacturing in all its dimensions: raw materials, tools, techniques, regional diversity, and social and cultural context.

Libyan traditional dress is one of the most prominent components of Libyan cultural identity, reflecting a rich history of civilizational exchange between Berber, Arab, Islamic, and Mediterranean cultures. With traditional crafts declining under globalization pressures, scientific documentation has become a pressing civilizational necessity.

🎬 The documentary will be broadcast on satellite channels and digital platforms, and presented to Arab and international academic and cultural institutions as an accredited scientific reference for preserving Libyan heritage.
